Every player, every program
Bring
- Shin guards — properly fitted and completely covered by socks. Mandatory for match play.
- Soccer cleats — molded rubber or plastic studs. No metal studs or toe cleats.
- Soccer socks — long enough to cover the shin guards.
- Water bottle — labeled with your player's name.
- A practice ball — in the size for your program (see below), labeled with your name.
Leave at home
- All jewelry — earrings, rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches. Taping over earrings is not allowed.
- Hard hair accessories — barrettes and clips. Soft hair ties are fine.
- Hard casts and rigid splints — a player wearing one cannot play, even with a note.
- Braces with exposed metal — orthopedic braces must have all metal capped or covered.
Prescription glasses, hearing aids, insulin pumps, and similar essential items are allowed. Tell your coach before the game so the referee can confirm they are secured safely.
Dynos — Pre-K & Kindergarten
Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM on Elementary Fields 1 & 2. A coed introduction to soccer run by HYSA.
- Ball: size 3
- Shirt: HYSA orders Dynos program shirts
- Footwear: cleats or sneakers both work at this age
- Shin guards: strongly recommended; get them early so it becomes a habit
Bring water and dress for the weather. Sessions are short, so an extra layer on cold mornings matters more than anything else.

Cold and wet days
Fall soccer gets cold fast. Layers under the uniform are allowed and should match team colors where they show.
- Long sleeves or a base layer under the jersey
- Leggings or tights under shorts
- Soft hat and gloves for players when the coach allows them
- A dry change of socks and a towel in the car
Check the game status before you leave. Only HYSA's Field Coordinator can close a field.

Uniforms & numbers (U10, U12, U14)
Coastal uniforms are ordered through the HYSA Gear Store. Jersey numbers are assigned by the association, not chosen by the player, so please wait for your number before ordering.
How numbers are assigned: players with an even high-school graduation year get even numbers, and players with an odd graduation year get odd numbers. Teams combine with the grade above and below as players move up each year, so this keeps every number unique on the new team. No swapping numbers, no buying a new jersey.
